What is the difference between a video card and a graphics adapter?
I want to play the Sims 3 but my video card is not supported. I have a PCI-E x16 slot. I have a Gateway 503GR and the specs can be found here:

What do I need to play the Sims 3? Do I need both a new video card and a graphics adapter? What's the difference and what do I need?
Technically a graphics card is nothing more than a co-possessor that handles graphical processing like in games or adobe rendering ect.
A graphics adapter is usually for a laptop but does not have the power to be a co-possessor to the CPU. Allows you to hook different things up or use dual screens ect.
