benchmarked on a few different games.
Check the particular cards you're interested in on ALL the game benchmarks.
Because the performance comparison Varies a LOT from game-to-game.
Some cards favor certain games.
You can find an "average" overall best card.
Then when you figure which cards youre interested in,,,
Go Check Ebay for prices.
You can usually beat normal retail prices a good bit.
Sometimes you can get Lucky and get a super deal on a used card that hasnt been run much,,,& from good rated sellers who will stand behind the thing.
It's not that $20~30 difference is such a huge amount of cash,,
Though we All have some kinda limit,,,,
It's that VERY OFTEN you can find MORE card for however much You Can spend.
Or,,you can find a LOT MORE Card for "just" another $10~20~30
Prices on Vid Cards swing the Widest Range of any part on a computer,,,so it's NOT too hard to find a really good deal.
One other thing,,No Gaurantee but USUALLY right after Christmas there's a buncha good deals.
*Retailers want to reduce their inventory,,or they might have overstocked some models for Holiday Buying.
*Lots of people get New Cards for Gifts,,and want to sell their old ones.
*Or,they get Money for Christmas--buy themselves their DreamCard,,,then want to sell their old one
As you probably know,,most all the cards Models follow a sort of Numerical Order
Like an X1800 is Higher Perf than a X1600,,
Or Geforce 6600>6800>7600>7800.
Check the Performance Comparrison Charts,,
and then shop for Cards ABOVE your price range.
Some will be 3 times what ya can spend,,simply outa the question.
Then as you go Down the list,,You'll find the Model Ranges
getting Closer to what you want to spend.
Watch for a Deal in the bunch just Above your price range.
Prices on Vid Cards come down quickly.
It takes a little patience and some effort at shopping hard...
But it's not unrealistic to find "Twice" the card than ya 1st
thought you could afford.
We're getting close to a season where Vid Cards drop in price a good bit.
Crazy to think of Computer Parts as "seasonal" like fruit & vegetables,,lol....but somehow it seems to be.
Look at 7600 gT instead of gS,,,for example
Price difference averages about $10~20$.

Except that in the particular range your looking at,,
Nvidia Cards offer LOTS more Performance for the Money
