tv to surround system. coaxial audio?
my new tv only has a coaxial audio port in the back and my surround sound has a coaxial STB plug in and a coaxial DVD/DVR plug in. If i buy a standard coaxial audio cable will it work in either of these plug ins
I suspect you will be able to answer your own question with this information:
Coaxial digital audio is a digital signal through a RCA jack. Coaxial cable is not used at all.
There is no point in passing digital audio to your TV in anything but a HDMI cable (for convience). Your TV is stereo. Just use white/red RCA audio cables.
TVs are not receivers and will not pass through digital audio, if you were also thinking about that. The only way to get true surround sound is to connect the digital audio (whether optical, coaxial or through HDMI cable) directly to a digital receiver.
