can i play the game crysis if i switch my ati radeon x550? video card with a nvidia 8600 gt?
I have a dell dimension 8400 with i think an ati radeon x550 video card. I currently can play the game crysis with this card but with poor results. If i switch cards to the geforce 8600 gt, can i still play the game crysis? Will I also have better results?
The 8600 GT is certainly a better card chip than the X550. You can play Crysis with an 8600 GT.
Crysis is a very power hungry (as in video and processor power) game, so don't expect to play on HIGH settings with high resolutions with this card. Check this link to get an idea of what to expect performance wise:

Check this link for video card pricing on 8600 GT and similar cards. If you purchase a 8600 GT, make sure to get one with DDR3 memory, not DDR2 (DDR3 is noticeably faster than DDR2, and slightly more expensive). The MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo seems to be a great deal right now at $90 after mail in rebate :
