will ati graphic cards work with nvidia motherboards?
im planning to buy either a radeon 4670 or radeon 3870. and my motherboard is MSI P6NGM and it is based on the nvidia chipset. will the ati card run on this board?
or will nividia graphic cards run more smoother than ati cards?
The only disadvantage to running nvidia boards with ATI, is if you want to crossfire later on, which will not be an issue in your case, as you only have 1 PCIEx16 slot anyways. To answer your other question about smoothness. Smoothness all depends upon the card, drivers, games you play, and patch releases for those games. 4670 and 3870 cards are solid workhorses of cards, but you have to remember that they are not cutting edge and will show you that in their performance vs. a 4870 ATI or a 260GTX nvidia, which those two cards you mentioned will smash them in performance. My thoughts are go with what you can afford, as the 4870 and 260 will both require you to change your power supply. If you can afford a $50 PSU and a 4870 go for it by all means, it will serve you well. If you aren't ready for that step, then the two you have chosen will fit the bill... Also consider a 4830 as they are a little stronger but cost in the $120 range...
