if you're buying a pc for gaming you might like to consider an sli motherboard and a 600watt psu. they don't cost much more than a single pcie mb and the psu is only a bit more than standard, but they give you the advantage that, in 12-18 months time when you need more power to play latest games you can just slot another graphics card in. This is a quick and relatively cheap upgrade that will give you much more gaming flexibility than a cpu or ram upgrade is capable of. If you get the single slot mb your only option to achieve the same increase in speed would be to put in a top of the range video card, which will be a very expensive proposition.
