what is different ASUS Radeon 9250 (AGP 8x) 128MB DDR and GeCube Radeon 9550 Extreme (AGP8x/ DirectX 9.0) 128M
both are old, indeed
but the 9-250 is not only OLD, it is deprecated; thus, you can't download drivers (from ATI) for it, anymore, respectively, the drivers that can be downloaded are over a year old (no support for Vista).
if you are running XP, the 9-250 has very limited DirectX-9 support (only supports DirectX-8 fully) whereas the 9-550 pretty much supports DirectX 9.
if you are thinking about getting a new card, the 9-550 is the BARE minimum you should go for. newer AGP cards you may actually want to look for are a X1-350 or even a X1-550, instead. ATI doesn't list them anymore, but many shops still sell them.
